A street scene looking at a whitewashed cottage that has steps leading up to an entrance door on the left, and on the right hand side a window with 'Brocante' written on it. In front of that on the cobbled street, as if waiting for someone inside the Brocante shop, stands a man with dark clothing and a beanie type hat, his hands clasped in front of him, holding a dog on a lead. on a lead. brumphpics

Roughtor, Bodmin Moor

landscape

I have been in a photographic rut for a few years. This probably coincides with some health difficulties over the same period, so it's not really surprising. However, I've felt the need to start a photographic blog, and now I need to fill it with something before I can get started on some fresh work. So here is a shot of Roughtor on Bodmin Moor, taken from my files. It was probably taken around this time of year, but not this year.

I don't think it's changed much since anyway. It hasn't changed much for millions of years.

If you're in the dark about how to pronounce Roughtor (the sign at the car park written by the landowners goes with one word, so I do), or even might be familiar with it being on the maps as Rough Tor, then welcome to a wide debate. Rough like a ruff, or a row (as row a boat, OR like have an argument), or one word sounding like router (as in the internet device... English version, not the US rowter... god, this is hard...) can all be heard around here.

Black and white, piles of granite rocks, weathered and eroded over millenia to look like they're arranged in stacks and piles in the foreground, with a far reaching moorland landscape stretching beyond them, a dark and threatening looking cloudy sky above them, with rays of sunlight poking through in places in the distance...
