unexpected liking in the posting area
How pictures 'do' on social media is a mystery to me.
I've posted some that I think are great, and they don't get much attention. Images that I fussed over in post-processing, after fussing over the taking of them in the first place (I don't really fuss that much to be honest, but possibly a little more than a 'snapper' would). Composition and cropping, does that work? Colour balance and contrast need a tweak? Got the amount of sharpness right?
Post. Wait. Little reaction. Oh well.
Then there are others which are sometimes last-minute decisions to post for a certain hashtag—in this case #SilentSunday—that do better than expected.
This is just a wet Sunday morning picture with the phone camera—taken quickly with very little control of anything—of the view out of my office window, between mouthfuls of breakfast and coffee. Then I simply cropped and posted it on the Fediverse straight from there within ten minutes.
I don't understand why it got so many likes and reposts, but it did unexpectedly well. Perhaps it appealed to a few people who were having a similarly unimpressive bout of weather at home themselves.
